Today, Day 18, we entered Oregon, our 6th state so far. Today we drove about 200 miles from Mount St Helens, WA to Newport, OR.Our first stop was the Lewis and Clark National Historic Site. We saw a very interesting film on their expedition and partnership. We toured the replica of their Fort Clatsop. Got passports stamped.
We turned onto Hwy 101. Our boys were about to die. They haven’t had pizza in about 3 weeks. We found a Pizza Hut for lunch just to satisfy their craving. Then we stopped at Cannon Beach
near Haystack Rock, took off our shoes, and walked in the sand for a while. Pretty cool to have been playing in the snow yesterday and be playing on the beach today. Fun trip! The drive down the Oregon Coast was amazing. It was a little foggy to see clearly, but still an awesome view.
We stopped at the Tillamook Creamery, saw how they make cheese and had some ice cream, of course. Yum.We arrived at our destination, The Pacific Shores Motorcoach Resort in Newport, OR around 6pm. Our site was at the top of a 100 foot cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean and pointed directly at Yaquina Head Lighthouse. Words really can’t describe this. It was absolutely awesome. The boys (Ray especially) jumped out of the RV and scurried down the path to the beach. We all played on the rocks for about an hour. After dinner I caught up on blogging some.
Since a picture is worth 1000 words, here are some pictures.

Preston made a picture of a bird in the sand and he wanted me to include it.
